7) Treachery Headland and beach: walking and beaching
(Myall Lakes National Park; Port Stephens – Great Lakes Marine Park)










 
 














Marine life: Humpback whales very commonly seen in their northerly and southerly migration seasons. Bottlenose dolphins very commonly seen - they have a foraging route around the headland & occasionally corral fish in the sea chasms.

Geological/geographic: Many sea chasms in the Booti Booti sandstone & Yagon siltstone basement. Best investigated by snorkeling if conditions permit.

Recreational opportunities: Walking, rock scrambling, snorkeling, surfing, beach combing.

 

Other comments: Best conditions: gentler winds from the north; small seas for snorkeling

Fitness etc: moderate & at ease on steep slopes
